Fritz Gallery is pleased to present SPECTRUM: Selected Photographs By Vincent Ricardel 2011-2018. Ricardel is an internationally recognized photographer who has enjoyed a successful career as an editorial and commercial photographer, creating portraits of business and political leaders, as well as legendary artists and musicians. The images in this collection encompass work from various projects over the past seven years – and show Ricardel’s substantial breadth as a photographer and artist.
The work conveys Ricardel’s subtle and often unique observations of daily life portrayed in a manner removed from traditional documentary photography. His photographs capture humor, determination, solitude, and joy as they traverse from landscapes to seascapes to urbanscapes. Using digital and film applications, there is an underlying graphic quality to these compositions. Ricardel incorporates mixed media acrylic applications on some of the images, in addition to various grades of photographic paper. These texturized combinations have become a trademark of his work. As such, Ricardel “seeks to take his work where others don’t expect it to go.”
Ricardel has exhibited at the Leica Store Gallery in Washington, DC and Leica Store in Bellevue, Washington. In 2011, Ricardel’s photographs were featured in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibit, “Guitar Heroes.” The exhibit was inspired by the book, Archtop Guitars: The Journey from Cremona to New York, which he co-authored, and for which he received GRAPHIS’ 2011 Best in Photography award. His photographs have also been featured in curated exhibitions in Los Angeles, Palm Beach, New York and Palm Springs, California.
The opening reception will take place on Saturday, January 5, 2019, from 6-9pm. The Fritz Gallery is located at 211 Royal Poinciana Way, Palm Beach, FL. The gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm, and Sunday and Monday by appointment only. For more information, or to RSVP, please email info@fritzgallery.com, or call (561) 223-2498.
