Wendy WOODS
Having grown up in the Getty Family I was exposed to art at an early age. My mother, aunt and grandmother were avid collectors. Most recently my aunt and uncle Gordon and Ann Getty’s collection was featured at Christie’s in a landmark sale. When I was a teenager I stayed at my uncle Paul Getty’s house in London which is known as Queens House as well as the Rossetti House and became fascinated with the Art Nouveau movement and decided to study Art History. I received a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University and spent a year in Rome studying antiquities and Renaissance Art. I continued my art education through Southern Methodists graduate program. My art history back ground gave me the foundation to be the Florida representative for Art Banc International. I also joined forces with H is For House to stage $30 million plus spec homes in Palm Beach with original works by Robert Motherwell, Andy Warhol, Paul Jenkins, and Louise Nevelson and many other well know artists. In 2018 I opened Fritz Gallery in West Palm Beach Florida followed by two additional galleries in Palm Beach. My focus was on Modern and Contemporary Blue Chip art with offerings of original paintings by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Lucio Fontana, Damien Hirst, Cecily Brown, Paul Jenkins, Robert Rauschenberg, and Tom Wesselmann. I was able to have exhibitions for local artists who had previous museum shows and exhibition history as well as host charity events for Ballet Florida, American Friends of Blérancourt, and Dreyfoos School of the Arts in my 4000 sq ft gallery that I transformed from a dark dreary dance hall into a vibrant light space to feature art and events. My current focus is art consulting and private sales of Blue Chip Art which has led me to creating a platform with partners to give a viable space to evaluate, discuss and sell art that the traditional venues reject for various reasons.
